Pantheon: Greek Deity Of: Gender: Female Herbs: Stones: Powers: Number: Colour: Description: In Lydia there was a girl named Arachne who was known for her excellent ability in handling a spindle and needle. One day this spit of a girl challenged Athena to compete with her. The goddess accepted the challenge and at the end of competition found Arachne's work to be perfect. Unwilling to admit defeat, Athena turned the girl into a spider and condemned her to spin forever, drawing the thread from her own body. Other sources state simply that Arachne is the Greek spider Goddess, who is the weaver of fate. |
